My parents are both teachers so I come from a background of educators. I have been teaching for the last 3 years as I was completing my degree at CU Boulder. Even though I am a jazz trombonist, I focus on finding music that students like, not that I personally want to play. Music, at its most basic, should be fun, and I try to impart that to my students. Lessons with me involve jokes, fun music, and taking our music making to the extreme. In addition, I strive to teach music as a language; learning it both aurally and visually, developing an ear for music and self-evaluation while learning to read the notes on the page. I graduated from Ole Miss in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism with minors in both Music and English and I graduated again in 2012 with a Master of Arts degree in Teaching English as a Second Language with a subfield in Music.
