I began teaching at the age of 19, at Northeast Catholic High School, Paul VI High School and numerous grade schools throughout the Philadelphia area. By the age of 20, I was teaching at the Conservatory Division of the University of the Arts in Philly. For beginning students, I focus on the very first fundamentals of playing trombone and music which consists of simple music theory and fundamental technique of playing the trombone. Once those fundamentals are introduced and the students shows progression, I will assign etudes and solo repertoire to help improve on musicality and technique. I tend to perform for students in lessons so they can receive a better idea of how to play a specific passage as well as just playing fun pieces to get them excited in lessons. Read More

For beginning brass students, I typically work on developing on their embrasure and proper playing technique. Getting everything secure right at the beginning is the key to having players who are comfortable and will result in greater successful down the line.
