Trumpet: for beginners, I typically utilize the methods book in which the student is using in their beginning band class. If the student is not enrolled in band at a public school, I typically use a combination of materials. Focus on fundamentals at the beginner level is essential for musical proficiency. My first experience teaching music began immediately after graduation college and had continued to the present day. Originating as the music teacher at a girl's club the summer after my college graduation, my music profession soon began. There my eyes were opened to the benefits music has on children. I picked up teaching during my second year of college with some help from my mother- a long-time piano teacher. During that time I taught several different students ranging from age 6 to adult on various instruments including piano, guitar, and drums. I've experienced the different learning styles and barriers that come with teaching kids, teens, and adults.
