My teaching style is focused in technique and theory. I believe that these two musical components allow individuals to understand the material that they wish to learn. Understanding the material at an elemental level allows the student to comprehend the steps that are necessary in order to accomplish what they musically desire. I work with the student's capabilities and am flexible to move at their speed, while pushing them to learn more and more as we go along. I started teaching guitar at about 16, and have always maintained a studio of at least a couple students. I also offered assistance in the local band classes in order to improve my chops on my alternate instruments. I've played with several local bands, played musicals for local and regional theater groups, and was the house band leader for the Williamsburg Dinner Theater for 4 years. By my best estimation, I have played well over 1000 shows (probably closer to 1200), and that number continues to grow as I develop my band, the Darrell Boger Band. Read More

I have a degree from Wayne State University where I studied Jazz Guitar and Music technology.  I've played in bands ranging from Big Band Swing to Country to Punk Rock playing guitar, bass and piano/keyboards.  My studio is equipped with two amplifiers and the ability to record the student for playback.
