I have been teaching for a year, as a teacher in person and online privately, at Axis Music Academy, and through Ignite! the Sparks!. I have taught ages 5-42, and love every age for voice, piano, guitar, and ukulele. I can teach absolute beginners to advanced vocalists, and beginner to intermediate piano, ukulele, and guitar. Music has always been my full-time profession. At the age of 13 I started playing bass in local bands professionally. After high school, I embarked on a collegiate musical journey, which led me to stays at Columbia College in Chicago, Bowling Green State University (where I received a full tuition scholarship) and Wayne State University. For students of all ages including myself, I believe all students should work in 3s: Creating a Warm Up, work through a few Methods and Etudes Books, and spending a substantial time working on solo and ensemble rep. In my own practice sessions, I tailor my routine around future performances, auditions, and styles of repertoire that I would like to improve upon. For novice students who are children, I typically start with small bite size lessons that I have honed over my career in teaching. I include a backing track that will be engaging. Once the student has grasped the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce songs that are easy to play. Video performances are highly encouraged. For teens, I try to find out what bands the student is interested in, to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More
