Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace and set goals for themselves. I encourage this by sitting down with the student at the beginning of our interactions, and deciding what they wish to "get out of" our lessons. I will give my student a scale, and Etude and a piece from violin repertoire. My essential teaching style is based on the Galamians Principles of Violin Playing Teaching. I believe that starting with fundamentals of violin techniques, left hand and right hand techniques is essential. After mastering the fundamentals, students are able to grow into their own musicalityand find a connection between the techniques and interpretation, where I would teach the importance of musical phrasing and understanding the structure of a piece of music. My teaching style can be described as a fusion of both musical growth and personal growth. In the first few lessons, it is a priority of mine to understand a student's interests, personal goals (within music and outside of music), and how music fits in with the other priorities of their lives. I really enjoy providing students with positive feedback and reinforcement to cultivate a nurturing environment to foster musical growth in a positive way. I like to listen to what the student is giving to the music, teach them positively what should be reinforced, and what should be understood in a technical aspects of playing to understand why certain things work and why other things do not. I think its important to figure out how the student learns best and tailor my teaching style to the individual. Read More
