Each summer I volunteer at my local community music camp where I I teach a wide of variety of students who are touching an instrument for the very first time and students who simply want to improve on their skills. My teaching experience is very fresh as I only have tutored freshmen in beginner trombone and music theory. I believe if I can teach college music majors trombone I can teach just about anybody. My personal trombone experience is that in high school I studied jazz and learned jazz trombone methods. However, in college I studied mostly classical playing and that would be strongest curriculum. I've also studied piano and found that accompanying a student or at least learning the theory of a song can go a long way in a lesson. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements or other method books that they have been using. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo trumpet repertoire as well as popular tunes that will easily engage with them. In addition, I will include some technical exercises to master their skills and endurance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More
