My philosophy is creating a solid musical foundation for students to deepen their understanding of singing and playing the piano. I always try my best to convey the basic musical knowledge to students, helping students develop their ability to recognize, read, listen, response, notate, understand rhythmic patterns and experiences in different musical cultures. Music is my passion. I believe that music is able to connect us in ways that words and actions simply cannot. I have been playing music in some form for over 20 years. I play trumpet and piano. In college, I was a lead trumpet player for the UNL Cornhusker Marching Band. Setting concrete goals is very important for me and my students, weather that be to get into all-state or to be able to play a scale at a certain bpm. Hello! My name is Nic, and I'd like to be your student's next piano instructor! I'm a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (Go Huskers!), although I hail from Minnesota originally. Over the last several years, I've been instructing students on piano and performing at outside engagements for clients. Additionally, I'm a Piano Associate at Von Maur who performs regularly throughout the week and weekends.
