I have been learning piano for more than twenty years and flute about ten years. I teach individual lesson privately or at a music center; I also teach group lesson at schools or some welfare organisations. Among my students. there are students from less than 3 years old to more than 30 years old. I love teaching both adults and kids. After teaching myself theory at the age of 4, I received my first musical instruction in 6th grade. At that time I learned to play the flute. This is where my musicianship began to blossom and opportunities were sent my way. Thanks to my love and dedication, I was one of a few placed in special bands. Auditioning & being selected for choruses during this time increased as well. As a result of my hard work, I was offered & accepted the positions at section leader and Drum Majorette in my high school's concert and marching bands & after joining choir my junior year I became lead soloist of the choir. My teaching experience started in college 27 years ago and I have maintained a consistent student roster since 2004. Encouraging a regular practice schedule is a key point especially for younger students in progressing and gaining a passion for the instrument. I've discovered offering a balance of classical, and modern music are the best combo for helping students maintain motivation to practice and learn. This might include taking a solo to contest, performing a recital, working on marching band or concert band music, or any other musical outlet. Based on the desires of the student, I can tailor my lessons to suite them personally. Guitar: for beginners, I typically turn to Mel Bays Method books. Once fundamentals are established, I want to learn what styles, bands, and artists the student likes. My teaching style may vary depending upon the student. I have several books and other teaching material available for my students. These include: Berkley Music Theory I and II, several Hal Leonard, and Fischer books and more! Lesson material will mostly depend upon the student's goals and current skill-set. EVERY lesson will consist of: assessing and tracking the student's skill-set, solidifying the student's goals along with my goals for the student, and creating a plan of action to follow in order to reach these goals.
