I have been learning piano for more than twenty years and flute about ten years. I teach individual lesson privately or at a music center; I also teach group lesson at schools or some welfare organisations. Among my students. there are students from less than 3 years old to more than 30 years old. I love teaching both adults and kids. My approach to coaching students is focused on 5 important areas; embouchure, tone quality, intonation (pitch), technique, and time. Memorization of key signatures and scales are very important to the student's overall success. I utilize a method for memorizing key signatures which will decrease the memorization time and increaseretention. After teaching myself theory at the age of 4, I received my first musical instruction in 6th grade. At that time I learned to play the flute. This is where my musicianship began to blossom and opportunities were sent my way. Thanks to my love and dedication, I was one of a few placed in special bands. Auditioning & being selected for choruses during this time increased as well. As a result of my hard work, I was offered & accepted the positions at section leader and Drum Majorette in my high school's concert and marching bands & after joining choir my junior year I became lead soloist of the choir. I don't believe in a one size fits all mentality for music education, I've often seen this approach derail students from enjoying the process and eventually terminating their relationship with music overall. Students are a case-by-case basis, and in that regard, each lesson is catered to the students actual goals and interests. I believe in training our ears and our sense of rhythm to a point where the student can figure things out and make artistic decisions on their own and use lessons, less as a tutorial, but as a source of inspiration to pursue the things that brought them here in the first place. I believe music should be fun and challenging, so I make sure to be patient, encouraging, and passionate during lessons. I love to play with them (duets, etc.) whenever possible, so that the student may learn the joy of making music with others. In order to ensure that the student develops at a steady pace, I make sure to provide reasonable and regular goals or checkpoints that the student may work toward in their individual practice.
