My approach is hands-on. Lessons are structured with free-play and ear-training to warm up. This is followed by 15-25 minutes studying methods and etudes. The last hour or so is dedicated to solo or performance repertoire. I work to cultivate an atmosphere of safety. Mistakes are expected, its more important that the student plays with conviction; we can clean it up later. I have been teaching others since 2006 during my high school years. It has continued on even to today; other than private lessons I have been a staff member for band in schools across Louisiana and Texas. I have always been dedicated to my students and their pursuit of musical mastery through setting achievable goals and helping students exceed them. We will work on necessary fundamentals to build the students embouchure, as well develop the students technique and skills no matter the level. My saying is to be better than your yesterday.
