I offer the Suzuki method of teaching for all beginners and pair it with Essentials for Strings to engage music theory into the lessons. As the students progress there are more books to choose and duets to practice Chamber Music and more advanced techniques. For Beginning students who are children, I typically start with the Suzuki Method, and essentials for Strings. After they have graduated and begin reading and understanding the basic concepts of music , and reading we begin to play duets and test of types of music. Read More

I studied in Lviv, Ukraine, graduated from Lviv Music Academy in 2016, Bachelor of Music Art, Cello Teaching, Solo and orchestra Performance. Currently, I am finishing my Master Degree in Southeastern Louisiana University. I performed as solo and member of different orchestras and chamber ensembles in Europe and South US. At the bare minimum, there are four skills that one must become adept in in order to play cello. 1) Proper body movement and coordination 2) Left hand technique (the hand which determines the notes on the instrument) 3) Right hand technique (the hand which manipulates the bow and produces sound) 4) A basic grasp of music theory Every student of mine will be trained in the classical sense, and learn some classical repertoire, because classical technique on the cello is the foundation for any other style the student would like to perform. My methods adapt to each student, their age and their level. The books I use go from the Suzuki books to the traditional Fouillard, Popper or Sebastian Lee methods. The repertoire would also depend on the student needs and the type of music he/she wants to learn. The age of the student is not relevant to me. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more.
