My methods adapt to each student, their age and their level. The books I use go from the Suzuki books to the traditional Fouillard, Popper or Sebastian Lee methods. The repertoire would also depend on the student needs and the type of music he/she wants to learn. The age of the student is not relevant to me. The office was always dimly lit. Shelves of well read books and yellowed ripped sheet music lined the walls. The entire room had a smell of old paper, years of rosin buildup in the corners, and the smell of varnish from the short row of school instruments that students could borrow behind the tiniest teacher desk I had ever seen. I encourage all students to work on memorizing repertoire, keeping correct posture, practicing a few times a week and performing for friends and family during the learning process.
