I am an experienced teacher, with many years of experience teaching young children of all ages and abilities. I also have a lot of experience working with adults, mostly beginnners. I have performed with several orchestras throughout my career, as well as in many piano recitals. I consider French Horn my primary performing instrument, and piano my secondary. My first objective when meeting any new student is to figure out what their strengths and weaknesses are, and what their overall goal in music is; whether it’s learning a new piece, playing jazz, playing for fun, getting first chair or making it into an ensemble. Being a classically trained trumpet player, I have come across nearly every issue and technical exercise imaginable. I am a fun, motivational and passionate teacher who loves working to help the next generation of musicians become the type of musician that they want to be. I play and teach all types of music and while in undergrad at Oberlin I created a major within the conservatory where I combined the classical and jazz degrees together to be able to learn many different genres of music. In addition, because of Covid-19, I now teach via Zoom and/or Facetime which has proven to be very successful experience for all my students. Also, my Strings Program students in Branford, CT from the years 1996-2005 have had access to music notation computer programs such as Finale and Music Time. I developed this approach when I taught in South Carolina for three years: 1982-1985.
