I began teaching privately in 1999 when i started music school at the university of alabama. I then moved to Miami in 2006where i taught through the school of music. I have been playing clarinet since 1993.I began in middle school, then high school, then college and now in the Mobile Pops. Once I picked up the Clarinet I never put it down. I have played the music at a local theater for Camelot the musical. I am asked to play at various local churches. My teaching style includes positive reinforcement, making and achieving small measurable goals that lead to big measurable goals, and teaching and instilling correct daily practice methods. I encourage each student to do their best each day and push through the difficult places. When something is too difficult for a student, I break it down into smaller, more understandable pieces, or change tactics to a different subject or piece. I have been involved in music as a player since 1966, and have been a featured soloist on both trumpet and clarinet with concert bands around the Southeast. I began playing my secondary instrument (trumpet) in 1970, and have studied conducting with symphony orchestras and concert bands. I have taught band at elementary, middle and high school levels, and was honored with the task of founding the band program at my last school. Read More

I do request they practice a minimum of 30 minutes per day, 5 days a week. Also, I spend at least an hour preparing for a one hour lesson. At the end of each lesson I critique the progress, and give the student, and its parent a written copy of the critique, as well a written lesson plan for the upcoming week. In this way everyone involved is well informed as to what has transpired and what is desired in the next week. Read More
