My teaching experience began during my college years, when I started giving private lessons and discovered how much I loved helping students grow as musicians. I myself am a music student on my way to study at University of Alabama for a Bachelor's in Music Education. I have been privately instructing students of all ages for a full three years, starting when I was fifteen. I never turn down an opportunity to perform, and have played in multiple orchestras, symphonic bands, jazz bands, and marching bands. For beginning students I focus on the basic skills, how to hold the clarinet, how the ambrochure should be, how to breathe, and learn the basic notes and fingerings of a scale. I like to start where the student is. For my youngest students, we begin with the basics of counting and the music alphabet. For older students and adults, I assess prior knowledge and go from there. i like to have the students help me create up to three goals for the semester or year so that we can have something specific to aim for and measure.
