My teaching clarinet began when I was in high school, giving lessons to 18+-students after school and on Saturdays. Later, in college, I continued to teach on the weekends, helping to cover additional expenses. Then, in the national guard band, I taught private lessons to several of my fellow clarinetists. I like to start where the student is. For my youngest students, we begin with the basics of counting and the music alphabet. For older students and adults, I assess prior knowledge and go from there. i like to have the students help me create up to three goals for the semester or year so that we can have something specific to aim for and measure. I began teaching privately in 1999 when i started music school at the university of alabama. I then moved to Miami in 2006where i taught through the school of music. Once i graduated, i taught at many of the colleges in the area, Miami Dade University, Palm Beach Atlantic College, Palm Beach College, West Boca High School, Boca High School, and Forest Hill High School.
