I encourage my students to conduct research outside of their lessons, in order for them to learn as much as possible about the history of their instrument, as well as the genre and style in which they are performing. I also encourage students to listen to recordings of many different styles and genres in order to hear elements that cannot always be explained with words. Read More

Due to the fact that I teach students with drastically different age and ability levels, lessons are catered to each individual student's needs. We will usually start with some kind of warm-up exercise, move to technical/flexibility development, followed by repertoire and etudes. I keep a shared document with all of the items discussed in each lesson as a record for the student and include suggested listening/ reading for the week. Read More
