It is an indescribable feeling to see a student grow and learn more about the instrument and the music around them. I believe that the more information that someone knows about all aspects of the music the better they will be. For beginners, they must learn how to play the instrument. So books like standard of excellence or essential elements are great resources. I will guide them through what the book cannot explain and help them truly internalize aspects of playing their instrument. For more advanced players, we will work on tone, advanced technique, new styles as well as history, modern practices and more. Depending on their progress , I will ensure any recital music is music that they want to play, as well as music that really shows their progress on the instrument. Read More

For my intermediate students, I like to keep them learning songs they're interested in while strengthening their grasp on more advanced music theory concepts. Read More

I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More
