I have been teaching since I was in high school, and have enjoyed each lesson. I emphasize a strong fundamental base and building upon each students individual interests to help them develop their musical curiosity. I like to model lessons after an ideal practice session, starting with a fundamental warmup and development, moving into scale work, and then addressing the repertoire being studied. I graduated from The University of North Carolina School of the Arts which is where I went for my high school degree, with a concentration in flute. All of my bands received first division and second division ratings at festivals and my students received first and second division ratings at individual solo and ensemble festivals. I'm a very passionate musician who loves guiding and instructing students to further their own interests in music. I have had a variety of performance opportunities throughout my time at Western Carolina University from which I graduated in 2012. I have had the opportunity to play in a variety of venues from Hawaii for the Pearl Harbor anniversary as well as in the the Rose Bowl Parade.
