I started teaching towards the beginning of high school, primarily with my younger family members and the occasional churchgoer. I also began teaching adults when I started college, which was just as enjoyable. I primarily have traveled to my students' homes, but am more than happy to do online if needed! I believe I still have a lot to learn myself since I am constantly learning new things! I am passionate about making the experience fun and exciting because that is what music is to me! Read More

I am not a passive bystander at lessons; I jump right into the music and guide students on how to best read and play each song. A theory-centered approach to piano is very important. When your child takes lessons, he or she won't merely learn how to play piano, but how to understand and love all music. For beginner students I start with basics. Keys, lines, spaces, sharps, flats, etc. I typically recommend a basic beginner level at the child or adult level. For students wanting to play by ear I teach chords and rythym including phrasing, fill ins, intro's, ending, the utilization of transposing etc. Read More
Instruments: Piano, Guitar, Drums, Mallet Percussion, Orchestral Percussion, Latin Percussion, Keyboard, Electric Guitar, Classical Guitar, Acoustic Guitar
In addition, I like to incorporate my student's interests into their goals. I find this to be both rewarding and inspiring. Read More

I used other activities such as walking, running, dancing, and boxing to demonstrate performance techniques and to make students understand the importance of natural gesture, inertia, and relaxation. I provided students with a "Good Sound" repertoire that spanned different levels of difficulty and incorporated folk, popular, jazz, and traditional classical music to match their needs and interests. I organized regular recitals to encourage students' daily practice and nurture their public performance skills to overcome stage fright. Read More
