I have had extensive lessons on all ends of the music education spectrum. I took informal guitar lessons from rock n roll musicians who couldn't read music while I was in middle school/high school, and I took classical lessons while in college from professors who couldn't improvise in more than one or two styles (or sometimes none). I believe there is a happy medium that is the ideal way for music to be taught. Read More

My teaching experience started in 2009. Since then I have consistently taught students ranging from 3 years old to wise adults over 80 years. I generally teach in my home studio because I find students benefit much more than being at their home. Encouraging a personal lesson and education is one of my focuses as it tends to help the student progress and maintain a passion for the instrument and music. Read More

I have been involved with music since middle school, where I participated in marching band. I continued in marching band up to my junior year of college. I also started to use GarageBand to record songs. Shortly before I graduated, I started to teach myself piano. Read More

For drumming and other instruments, starting with rudiments, learning how to read music, and playing scales are a great way to help a student build their technique and ear up. I think it is really important to ask what kind of music the student is into or show them how the foundational basics can be used in an actual playing situation instead of just a boring regimented routine.
