I am a relatively new teacher! I've been a musician all my life, but only recently started teaching children and young adults how to play instruments or how to collaborate musically. I have found that teaching is an important part of being a musician, and I'm very excited to find new students. My teaching methodology for students who are beginners typically consists of using music that the student is interested in as a template to teach them the fundamentals of music and basic technique for their instrument. After the student has made the connection between music they already love and their instrument, then I can start to challenge them with more difficult repertoire and musical concepts. Starting from my days of undergraduate school, I began to teach as an assistant in the department of music at the state university of New York at Stony Brook for a foundational music course.
