I'm a classically trained violinist, with a Cajun Louisiana fiddling background. In the third grade, I began playing violin for orchestras in New Orleans, Louisiana and later had the wonderful opportunity to be a part of the New Orleans Creative Center for the Arts. It was then that I began to develop a lifelong love for music performance and collaboration. I offer a variety of string-based music lessons for violin, violin, cello, and guitar for students. I welcome all ages. No prior musical background is required!
Experienced in private and group teaching settings for beginner to advanced level string students for ten years. I am currently the Strings instructor at Haywood Community College in Clyde, NC where I offer beginner to advanced classes for violin, viola, and cello.
Although I learned to play strings in a classical background, I welcome all musical styles and techniques! I strive to provide lessons that are suited for each students individual interests and performance goals. A consistent practice schedule is key to maintaining progress. When it comes to music, a world of creativity and knowledge awaits!
I use Hal Leonard's Essential Elements books for all of my strings classes. Depending on the student's playing desires, I introduce a wide variety of solo pieces and can help shape effective performance skills.
For violin, viola, and cello I typically focus on the following methods, depending on the student's playing desires:
• Basic Music Theory
• Posture & Positioning
• Bow Articulation & Plucking
• Sight-Reading
• Practice Techniques
• Music Performance & Improvisation
I offer beginner to advanced style lessons for violin. I offer beginner to intermediate lessons for viola, cello, and guitar.
Whether a student is preparing for a local competition, a school event, or simply wanting to dust off the instrument that has been sitting around for years, I am here to help. I create lessons geared towards the students individual goals and aspirations while maintaining a strong foundation of music technique, theory, and performance. I encourage students to establish a consistent practice schedule while keeping their passions at the center of learning and playing. I believe that music must be taught in a healthy and fun environment!

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
OkAre you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
