This is why we learn everything from to read, write music, harmony, rudiments or scales, warmup exercises, music theory, playing songs, improvising, and more!!! I use multiple books, techniques and resources acquired both through Berklee College of Music as well as others I've studied along the way. I have 23 years of teaching experience in a variety of settings. I enjoy working with students of all ages. Music is an international language that has brought me many wonderful life experiences. In addition to classroom and private instruction, I compose my own music. I perform regularly at folk venues and festivals. I was raised in Vero Beach Florida, and began playing guitar and piano at age 10. I graduated from the Schumann School for the Visual and Performing Arts, part of the Indian River Charter High School system. There afterward I moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota to attend McNally Smith College of Music where I graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance in 2015. My philosophy lies in structure - such as teaching in appropriate amounts that are challenging, but not overwhelming. I will always ask students what they're interested in learning and work that into the lesson. But the main focus for beginners is to be comfortable with the fretboard and to have fun. I break lessons down into technique, theory, and whatever the student is particularly wanting to learn. I particularly like to pull from the Berklee Press or Musician's Institute books, as they are well received. Read More
