I have been teaching the flute for many years, dating back to my undergraduate college days. I taught several students that were looking to audition at the school I was at and needed additional help. I have also taught at a summer flute day camp in Michigan for 7 years, working with middle school, high school, and adult students. I currently teach beginning through high school flute students in Pendleton. There are several different method books that I like to use with my students based on age, knowledge/experience, and of course if the method book they use is something they will enjoy; it's very difficult if a student doesn't like the book they're using so I try to give them options. For beginners, I like to use John Thompson's Easiest Piano Course or the Schuam method books. For additional practice and work, I like to use Schaum's Fingerpower and have the student write out the notes then recite them aloud while playing the exercise. Read More

I first started teaching seven years ago, while in high school. Upon recommendation by my band director, I began teaching summer lessons to elementary school students in my school district, and I’ve been teaching ever since. I have a positive and encouraging music studio! I like to see students progress at all levels beginners through advanced. I love to get to know my students and use different books, songs, techniques, to really reach their level and motivation.
