As a teacher, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing a student develop a passion for music. If my students do not leave every lesson feeling inspired, encouraged, and wanting to practice and play music, then I am not doing my job. Just as I tailor each lesson to match the individual student, expect the student to grow and develop as a musician at his/her own pace. Ultimately, music is universally accessible and I want to foster a love and appreciation for listening to music as well as performing music. Read More

I began teaching shortly after graduating from college, not expecting that teaching would be something I'd be too keen about. I have been teaching at various locations/businesses throughout the NJ area from as south as Swedesboro to as north as Trenton. Read More

I began teaching private flute lessons right out of high school. I also started and directed a children's handbell choir for ages 8-12. After graduating from college, I have taught general music to grades Pre-K through high school for 25 years. I have directed children's choirs, teenage choirs, and handbell choirs. I have taught piano and flute lessons for 30 years. I have played my flute for churches, weddings and community bands. Read More

I try to learn quickly how my students learn best and then work with that to help them learn the material. With that I am more prepared to work with them and help set realistic goals for each lesson. I hope that through lessons I help them develop a passion for music as well as playing their instrument. I am always asking the student how they feel about the songs they play, what they want to learn, and making sure they are grasping the material so that I can encourage further learning with my students. I believe in teaching music that the student wants to learn, whether that's the latest pop song or basic music theory which can be applied to any style. For my piano students, I prefer Alfred's piano curriculum. For my guitar students, I use Hal Leanord books. For my voice students, we work on whatever songs they want to learn or have assigned to them for a performance. For flute, I like Rubank method, but am open to other preferred methods as well.
