I attended UNLV school of music for two years. I moved to Miami Florida where I obtained a full scholarship from MDCC. I started teaching percussion in 2011 at Forest High School. I taught their drum line for four years, until I went to the University of Florida in 2015. We received straight superiors at FBA ever year I taught there. I since have taught private lessons at First Baptist Church since 2012 with a 2 year break due to Marching band at UF. Depending on the instrument I’m teaching and the skill level of the student I’m usually going to start of with a 10 to 15 minute session of evaluation and assessment of needs acquired skills and students desires .we can then begin with exercising proper warm up posture and position .and run through warm up scales and learn rutiments or attack the desired skill requirements straight ahead depending on the students development.Music is an art and a discipline.it is a relationship one has with there instrument.my songs and instruments become like family ,well charrished!!!! I believe each of us learn differently; for some students I find that they are very hands on and prefer that I show them how to do something and then allow them to perfect it others I find that they need a little more guidance and need me to go at a slower pace but regardless of the student's learning language I take my time to understand where they are and outline a plan to help them exceed to the next level.
