When in the field of Music Education, I do adhere strenuously to the Standards set forth by The Education Dept, which gives a clear understanding as to what they are supposed to learn during the Grade they have achieved. My lessons and objective come from those guidelines. I will not often deviate from it, although I will use my own discretion in determining how to meet the Standard. My teaching style is very regimented in the direction goal-setting and interests. Realistically setting goals is important for students of all abilities. Comparison from one student to the other is detrimental to the student's success as a musician, so I will tailor the progress to fit every need. I will also get the student involved with groups where they can further their learning and abilities. The more familiar the student is with the instrument the easier it is for them to be more confident in their performance. I encourage my students to perform in recitals and to compete as well as be apart of a band program as well. It is a great way to make wonderful friends.
