I am an upbeat energetic teacher who loves music and loves teaching. I have played saxophone since I was 8 years old, and I am now in my late 50's. I started teaching since high school marching band when I became the clarinet section leader. I taught marching fundamentals, and would rehearse the music with my section. Since the latter half of my undergrad in college, I would run clarinet sectionals for wind ensembles and symphony orchestras. I always explore different methods that might fit the age and personality of the student but for keyboard lessons I have found success with the Alfred Piano Method. Instrumental lessons usually follow the method book that is selected by their school band director. Beyond that I have a large library of supplementary music to expand the students interest with new styles and composers.I'm very flexible with the method books and after I get to know the student I can select a method that would work the best for instruction.
