I believe in training students both as instrumentalists and as overall musicians. Thus, beginning cello students will start with the Suzuki method to get basic technique down. Then, as a student improves, solo repertoire will be introduced from both the Suzuki method and other sources. Once a student has reached a state of proficiency, I will cater my teaching instead to the style that the student prefers. We can continue in classical music, or transition to contemporary styles. Once I graduated, I continued to be employed as the clarinet technician for the marching band at my high school for the next 4 years. Read More

My teaching philosophy revolved around the idea that music should be fun and engaging. While many teachers start their students off by learning how to read music, I like to begin with actually playing and familiarizing yourself with the instrument and later translating that information to written music notation. In your first lesson, we will play the instrument and learn a simple tune based on your skill level. I like to take into account the students music preference and learn what specifically they want to get out of private lessons. Read More

I encourage students to establish a consistent practice schedule while keeping their passions at the center of learning and playing. Read More
