In September of 2015, I was appointed Co-Conductor of the Youth Camerata, a middle school string orchestra of the Greensboro Symphony Youth Orchestras. I was also invited to conduct the Southeast Missouri State University Chamber Orchestra in May of this year. Following the closure of the Phantom show in September of 2012, I relocated to my home state of North Carolina. My teaching philosophy revolved around the idea that music should be fun and engaging. While many teachers start their students off by learning how to read music, I like to begin with actually playing and familiarizing yourself with the instrument and later translating that information to written music notation. In your first lesson, we will play the instrument and learn a simple tune based on your skill level. I began teaching a younger cello student while I was in high school, serving as an intermediary between him and his primary teacher. There, I was just an extra pair of ears, but it helped me to focus on my own technique and how to most efficiently play my instrument. I love being able to send students on their way for the day knowing that they put their best foot forward. Even if they did not come to a lesson prepared, being able to see growth in the small amount of time I'm with them is enough for me. I am currently the Strings instructor at Haywood Community College in Clyde, NC where I offer beginner to advanced classes for violin, viola, and cello.
