For all beginning students, I start with the Suzuki books. They introduce new techniques in a comprehensible way that helps build upon fundamentals before progressing to more advanced techniques. After a bit with Suzuki, I like to add the Dotzauer etude book, which helps to focus on one technique per etude, building on what we learned earlier in Suzuki. My philosophy for quality music education has three main parts: appreciation, practice, literacy. I braid all three of these parts into each lesson, with a student focused approach. I strongly believe that anyone at any age and abilities can learn enjoy making music. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a student develop a passion for music! Therefore, it is my job to have each student progress at their own pace. I hold recitals twice a year as a checkpoint to see how students have progressed and to have them practice performance. These recitals help motivate the students to practice and give acknowledgement to all their hard work and accomplishments. This acknowledgment is what drives them to work even harder and progress even further therefore leading closer to their dreams as a musician. Read More
