I have been classically trained since the age of three, and studied classical theory and composition at Harvard University. However, towards the end of my college experience I began to learn jazz and blues and ended up pursuing a Master's degree in Contemporary Performance. My name is Dr. Lee R. and I am a cellist, cello teacher, and conductor. I was born in New Haven, Connecticut, but am primarily a native of North Carolina. I began my musical studies at the age of eight on the violin with my mother, virtuoso violinist and violin teacher, Elaine Lee R.. I was a student leader in the marching band, serving as the woodwind captain for the marching band and the senior student conductor for the concert bands. I have had plenty of experience teaching both privately and in a classroom setting. I began teaching private lessons on the piano and violin in high school, where I mainly had elementary school beginners. In college, I continued to teach private lessons and also had plenty of opportunities to work with students of all different ages and skill levels in a variety of settings.
