I think students are more engaged and willing to practice when they are actually enjoying what they are learning, and music is an amazing thing, so it should be engaging! I'm a classically trained violinist, with a Cajun Louisiana fiddling background. In the third grade, I began playing violin for orchestras in New Orleans, Louisiana and later had the wonderful opportunity to be a part of the New Orleans Creative Center for the Arts. I am also a conductor. My minor concentration for my doctorate was Instrumental Conducting, and studied with David E. Becker. I have been a guest conductor with several high school and middle school string orchestras, been a substitute conductor for university/community orchestras, and organized two benefit chamber orchestra concerts in Las Vegas, in 2012 and 2013. In 2015, I was an Associate with the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, Conductors Institute with Markand Thakar, and a Participant at the Conductors Retreat at Medomak, with Kenneth Kiesler. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to high school. I was a student leader in the marching band, serving as the woodwind captain for the marching band and the senior student conductor for the concert bands. With these positions, I was able to tutor peers and work on expanding my knowledge of teaching music.
