After finding out the skill level and goals that the student has, we can get to know the instrument that we are learning more in depth. We learn the anatomy of the instrument and how to hold and play it. We will then take on learning how to play the instrument comfortably along with me, along with recorded tracks, and along with other musicians. My style is patient and encouraging. For beginning students I use Mel Bay Guitar Book 1 for standard notation reading along with my book Fret Board Explorers which has finger strengthening drills,and various picking exercises. Along the way I introduce basic chords teaching the correct fingering. In addition to that I introduce scales, arpeggios and chord inversions. I was raised in Vero Beach Florida, and began playing guitar and piano at age 10. I graduated from the Schumann School for the Visual and Performing Arts, part of the Indian River Charter High School system. There afterward I moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota to attend McNally Smith College of Music where I graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance in 2015.
