My methods are not standard, I believe in teaching technical sides of an instrument and the creative sides. For younger students I will teach them the basics of chords and progressions, eventually leading to write their first songs. For young adults and adults I want to have them learn chords, styles, and the uses of their instruments. Creativity will always be the most important thing to hone. I tailor a student's curriculum to their musical goals and needs, while making sure that I am instilling the fundamentals needed for pursuing music at the college scholarship level. Often this means scales, chords, arpeggios, music literacy, performance practice and listening skills. To accomplish this, I use standard materials that are often available online and are used by college and University music programs around the world. I love to teach. I studied in Physics, Astronomy, Engineering, and Mathematics, but music and teaching have always been in my life, teaching students throughout high school and college at UGA as a second job. I took trips to Mexico over the summers from 2002-2005 playing music for children and students in between manual labor mission work. My music performance experience ranges from large outdoor venues in front of a large crowd to sitting and recording acoustic and electric lead tracks in a studio. Read More
