I'm a musician who loves to work with students and challenge them. In 2014, I graduated from the Atlanta Institute of Music & Media with a Certificate of Musicianship in Bass Guitar. Outside of teaching, I am gigging constantly throughout the Southeast. I am honored to have been able to open for the world touring band Black Tide, as well to have performed live on WUOG 90.5 FM and WREK 91.1 FM. Listening to the goals or having the student create goals is a very important first step towards a successful student. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. I am a kind and understanding teacher, pressuring students to reach goals on a time line isn't something that I feel would be productive. Creative teaching and exploring the entire musical world is a life long journey, so no need to rush it, but learning the tools to navigate your way through is something that can be invaluable. My teaching experience began in spring 2008 at a local church where taught piano drums classes as a music instructor to students ranging from ages 5-18. Throughout college I was a piano and voice instructor at the Boys and Girls Club Music Clubhouse in Boston MA where I continued teach students ranging from ages 10-18.For the past three years I have continued to provide private instruction and tutoring for students of all ages.I find that my students have a much more pleasurable learning experience, when they are able to apply what they learn in ways that are meaningful to their desire and aspirations.I've always encouraged my students to uphold a positive work ethic and mindset when embarking on their musical journey. My number one goal is to help my students accomplish their musical dreams, whether that be a classical pianist, a pop singer, the front person for a rock band, write songs or compose music for film, or just sing their favorite song of all time, whatever it takes, I will make sure that we get to the musical destination. It's important that each student progresses at their own pace. I always ask my students for one long term goal and one short term goal so that we can cast vision for where we are headed, map out the challenges along the way, but also celebrate the goals that we accomplish especially in the short term. There is no such thing as a "best method for everybody" but better methods for people's unique needs. For beginners, texts from Hal Leonard, Jamey Aebersold and Alfred's piano course are great examples to guide students through, but ultimately the specific text doesn't matter as long as I can teach the fundamentals necessary to be performance ready.
