For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. For fiddling, I gauge the students' strengths and develop some exercises that will enhance their sound and overall technique. Once the students have learned the basics, I play for them several pieces they would want to play for the next recital coming up so they can have an idea of what they like. Students learn musically in all different ways including visual, kinesthetic, aural, and oral modalities. It is up to the teacher to figure out in which ways a particular student learns best.
