I don't have any degrees in music. Just a ton of experience!
2017 - Performed on NBC's The Voice, Team Adam
I'm originally from Dublin, Ga. It's a small town that you've probably never heard of! Ha
I grew up mostly playing in church, and in my 20's I started playing various styles of music. I'm an extremely passionate and motivated singer, musician, and producer. I have been singing for my whole life, playing guitar over 12 years, and producing music for over 6 years. I have a ton of live music experience and touring experience as well. I have taught several students, friends, and family members how to sing and play guitar. I've also taught people how to produce music over the years as well.
My teaching experience began in my teenage years because my brother wanted to learn guitar, my cousins wanted to learn guitar, and my sister wanted help with singing! I've always enjoyed seeing other people get the hang of it. A few years back I taught at a music store in Warner Robins, Ga, where I had around 12 students at a time. I really enjoyed those students and I had a big impact on some of their lives. My method of teaching is pretty simple. I just try to help you accomplish your music goals. For most people, it's to learn some of their favorite songs. For some people, it's to be able to play cool solo's. Some people want to be able to sing with control and on pitch. I can help with all of those things because I have learned them well.
For guitar, I usually start with basic music theory. Scales, learning the notes of the guitar, easy chords. Then I'll just start teaching you whatever you'd like to learn! Most of the time I teach songs. To me, it's the fastest and most fun way to learn guitar.
For singing, first I will assess where you are at currently. Then I'll teach the basics of proper breathing technique, vocal exercises and warm ups, and then after you've gained more strength in your voice, we will start practicing with songs you enjoy and that fit your vocal style.
I would say I'm a fun teacher. If learning music isn't a fun experience then why do it anyway right? With guitar or singing, I will always teach the music theory behind what we are doing, but to be honest I'm more of a "Feel" guy. Meaning I'm not super technical. I will teach you proper technique for playing guitar and singing, but what I really enjoy is the process of learning songs you love, and doing it with your own style. Discovering your style and harnessing it, is one of the most rewarding things you can accomplish with music. I have done that for myself, and I'd love to help you do it too.
