My teaching experience dates back to high school. I was a student leader in the marching band, serving as the woodwind captain for the marching band and the senior student conductor for the concert bands. With these positions, I was able to tutor peers and work on expanding my knowledge of teaching music. I have been singing ever since I can remember and started taking lessons at the age of 7. My vocal studies brought me to complete my Masters degree in Vocal Performance at UNCG. Though the focus of my degree was Opera, I am practiced in many different genres of music. My classical education has given me a thorough understanding of the vocal instrument and allowed me to healthily, comfortably, and with ease be able to branch out into a variety of different genres. There is nothing more rewarding to me that seeing my student develop a passion of singing or overcoming a vocal concept. It is important that students progress at their own pace rather than comparing themselves to their friends and colleagues. I help them set goals for them on a weekly basis that will influence their own practice between lessons.
