I began teaching in 2010 when a friend asked if she could take lessons from me. Since then, I've had quite a few students throughout my college years. I graduated with my Bachelors of Music from Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, NC. I am currently finishing his Masters of Arts in Teaching degree from Lenoir-Rhyne as well. While at Lenoir-Rhyne I was involved in a various amount of ensembles, including the newly reformed Spirit of LR Marching Band where I was the Head Drum Major for three years. My ultimate goal would be to guide students through their growth in music and abilities. There is nothing more rewarding than knowing that I have shared my knowledge and passion with a student and they grew from it. I believe that every student learns differently, so I teach lessons according to how they learn. I set up realistic goals for every lesson and I acknowledge progress and accomplishments to help fuel a students desire to continue in music. Read More

I first find out a little bit about my students musical likes and taste, or, with younger students, find somethingfun that interests them, just to find some common ground. I also find out a students long term goals. For instance, if a student seeks to be a opera singer as opposed to a worship leader, the training needs to be more pointed towards classical pieces and Arias instead of learning church music and how to engage a crowd. I acquired severalstudents my last year of my undergrad and my studio grew in to myMaster's.
