For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements for violin students and piano adventures for piano students. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. I have played the violin since I was 8 years old in school orchestras and small ensembles. I have also learned Irish traditional music in Ireland, from the Irish in music sessions and in more formal school settings. I spent 9 months there obtaining a Masters in Ethnomusicology. I have been teaching violin since 1991, the year I graduate with my Bacholar's degree in Music History. I have taught in studios as well as student's homes. Read More
