Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

My main focus with string instruments is sound development - how to use the bow properly and get a beautiful sound from the instrument first and foremost. I typically use Sound Innovations for Strings for beginning students, and start supplementing with different repertoire as we get further into lessons. For beginning students, we start with a proper hold, left hand set up, and only after that do we get to using the bow so we can focus on getting the best sound possible out of the instrument. In High School, my music practice skills carried over to my academic studies and I was able to graduate with Honors, a 4.00, and earn 14 scholarships to attend college to become a musicteacher. Since then, I have had the privilege ofteaching1000's of students, and mentoring several college students. One of my favorite examples is a student I startedteachingin 4th Grade who later added lessons for 3 other instruments and accomplished his dream of making it into the Chicago Symphony Youth Orchestra. For beginning students on violin we start with many techniques found in the Suzuki method. From there, we jump into different styles of music while still focusing on developing solid technical foundations for the student. Once we move into standard repertoire the lessons begin to change based on what the student needs. I am a firm believer in consistent practice. I would much rather have a student who practices daily for 15 minutes then a student who does not practice except for the day before their lesson for two hours. Read More

It's my goal to teach in a way that relates to the individual student and their goals. I spend time focusing on at what stage each student is at, in the accomplishment of their goals. Encouragement and patient accomplishment are important aspects of my lessons. I teach the importance of being patient with one's self and keeping focus on goals at hand. I believe we can teach and learn better in a very caring, supportive environment and that each student has the ability to achieve their individual goals! Read More
