I live and breathe music - both on stage and behind the scenes. I obtained (with honors) a B.S. in Music Business, with an emphasis in Opera Performance in 2007 and continue to perform regularly in a variety of venues, from musicals to weddings and everything in between. My aspirations as a violin instructor are to enable students to identify, understand, and assess challenges they contend to search for possible solutions. I am a proponent of self-directed learning, and intentionally create situations in class that allow the students to learn through the unconventional approach. I also encourage students to come up with their own exercises and possible solutions for any challenge they encounter. They taught me the value of experimenting and getting creative with practice methods, and so that is definitely one of the things I try to pass along to each of my students. As musicians, we spend a lot of time in the practice room, and so I always want students to enjoy learning. That day-to-day exploration is one of the best parts of music. I have been teaching privately for 11 years, and in public school for the last 7. I have played the violin for 20 years, and viola/cello/bass for the past 10. I have also played piano and sung for the last 12 years, and have performed in both solo and group settings on every instrument mentioned. I have sent off numerous students to major in music over the years, and have had many opportunities to play in professional orchestras, and taught at Settlement Music School for 3 year in Philadelphia.
