I am a performer, conductor, and teacher based in Stillwater, OK. I began working on my Bachelor's of Music Education (BME) at the Oklahoma State University Greenwood School of Music, studying trumpet with Dr. Ryan Gardner and Orchestral Conducting with Dr. Thomas Dickey. I love to watch my students become better versions of themselves through the medium of music. I never want my students to be satisfied with reaching a destination on their goal charts. I want my students to become so infatuated with the journey, that they will seek to continue to look for new experiences to explore. I create this environment by keeping lessons diverse and dynamic. I make each student compile a list of goals for themselves, 3 big goals, 5 goals the lead to each of the 3 big goals, 10 goals to lead to each of the 5 goals, and finally, daily goals that will help us accomplish the 10 goals. As far back as I can remember I've always had a fascination with musical instruments and a deep desire to make music. I have attended a few private music schools in Los Angeles, CA in 1994 and in 1996 which allowed me to hone in my skills. I participate actively in praise and worship teams to the day since 1992. I like to learn who my student is before starting anything. I want to know what their interests are and what their view on music is. I then take that and bond with them and teach them in a certain way that matches their thoughts and personalities the best. I like to have fun and not be too strict as long as the student is doing their work, but if they are not staying on track the fun is replaced with more focus on concepts to be sure they are learning what is needed. I am very much into individualized learning and instruction. Each of my students goes at their own pace, and while I encourage them to stretch their abilities and interests, I always keep their own goals in mind. I try hard to help my students become real musicians and not just brass players, although helping students troubleshoot their brass specific problems and frustrations is all part of the process.
