There are quite a few method books that I like to use with my students. To start, I like to have students use the Beginner Rubank Method Book (the blue book) and work through this to get the basics down. I am a local freelance musician who has a passion for teaching students both young and old. I have been playing for over 10 years and have a firm grasp on how the instrument should be played and how to communicate to others how it should be played. I have a diverse record of performance experience, including playing with the Akron and Erie Symphony Orchestras and playing at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. Read More

I am an experienced and passionate teacher and performer. I hold my K-12 Music Teaching Certification in Ohio and New Jersey. As a professional vocalist, I have appeared with various orchestras and small opera companies in Chicago, Cleveland, Philadelphia, and beyond. I have performed at Severance Hall, Playhouse Square, Philadelphia's Kimmel Center, and Chicago's Harris Theater, but as a student, I never thought that would be the case. My teachers have included some of the finest in the Northeast and Midwest, and I thank them for treating me as an individual with unique needs as a musician. Read More

Another goal is to develop the student in such a way that a passion for music and the arts is grown. Each student is different and has different goals; by trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

My lessons rarely consist of sitting for the entire time. I believe that in the short time we have in lessons, it is more important to expose students to a variety of resources to investigate their new endeavor than it is to repeat repertoire for the sake of a quick result.
