So therefore, I may teach a small tune to student and when it sounds good I'll show them how the music lines up with that, so they'll always focus on their sound and not just read notes off the page. I believe that music should be a satisfying endeavor. Learning music should be a great balance of having fun in the moment, and the joy of seeing oneself grow and progress as an artist over time. I meet each and every student at their own level, wherever that may be, and help them grow.   My teaching career began in college. I taught trombone lessons and was an instructor for the Hampton University Band Camp. In 2009 I became a graduate assistant at Central Michigan University. I also taught at an elementary school while I was in graduate school. After college I moved to North Carolina and became a band director on the middle school and high school level. My strongest skill is composition and arranging.  My works have been played on the middle school, high school, collegiate, and professional level.  This skill set includes jazz, popular music, classical, gospel, small ensembles, and large ensembles. I believe that music should be fun. I think students are more engaged and willing to practice when they are actually enjoying what they are learning, and music is an amazing thing, so it should be engaging! I am a lighthearted and easy going teacher, and I am also experienced in many different areas of music. This allows me to really tailor my lessons to my students needs.
