I want to know what inspires my students and what they strive for as well, though it's always okay if they can't answer that immediately. Learning an instrument is a journey. I hope to instill a joy and passion for music in my students. Through our work on fundamentals and etudes they will learn the skills they need to truly express themselves when they perform. I always try to ask the student what the scene of a movie would be if they are playing the soundtrack, and get them to convey that when they play. I'm a Tarleton State University graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. I have the ability to play and teach all brass instruments, with some voice, percussion, and piano instruction. I have completed my student teaching internship at Dublin and Hico ISDs (Elementary, Middle, HS Band) in 2012 and have worked as a music teacher in various charter schools. As a Bachelor's and Master's student, I honed my musicianship and technique to an incredible degree; as a band director, I learned a great deal about how to connect with and break concepts down for young students. Before graduating I did my student teaching in Grambling, La at the laboratory school. This school had students from K - 12 and I had the opportunity to work with all grades.
