Speaking from experience, a student learns best at their own pace. With private music lessons, it is a lot easier to identify what skills a student is good and as well as what needs to be worked on. When working with a new student, I like to hear what they have, so that way I can determine what I need to work on with said student. I have worked with many different method books, but the Essential Elements books are valuable because of the audio CD that is included with the books.
