In 2015, I graduated from Carson-Newman University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Instrumental and Vocal Music Education. During my time there, I participated in many ensembles and was awarded with several honors for my saxophone performance abilities. During this time, I also studied the oboe as my secondary instrument. I want the student to not have technique, tonal, or intonation based deficiencies interfere with the joy they get out of playing. I include basic theory and ear training exercises as well as improvisation work. Even if the student has zero interest in jazz, the exercises improve the student's ability to critically listen.
