I try to take each student as an individual with their own unique personality, likes and dislikes, and motivations. So I enjoy customizing a lesson plan that is as individual as each student. I taught elementary music for twenty plus years in the public school system (band, chorus, and classroom music). Additionally, I have taught private music lessons, traveling to my students’ homes and in my studio. My teaching style is very regimented in the direction goal-setting and interests. Realistically setting goals is important for students of all abilities. Comparison from one student to the other is detrimental to the student's success as a musician, so I will tailor the progress to fit every need. I will also get the student involved with groups where they can further their learning and abilities.
