I am a music educator and performer from Arkansas. I moved to the area to further my studies at UNC Greensboro. Some of my interests outside of music include cooking, fishing, and playing with my cat. I have been teaching for over 5 years now. In light of this, I will provide additional practice materials that are specific to the instrument each student plays or sings. For more advanced students, virtually all material will come from me, with the exception of students who request help with particularly difficult passages in their other repertoire. For the Clarinet, I typically use The Hendrickson Method book series with supplemental books on the side to enhance their various levels.  For flute and saxophone, I will evaluate based on the student's level. Once I have established a method book, I incorporate solos and additional techniques. When in the field of Music Education, I do adhere strenuously to the Standards set forth by The Education Dept, which gives a clear understanding as to what they are supposed to learn during the Grade they have achieved. My lessons and objective come from those guidelines. I will not often deviate from it, although I will use my own discretion in determining how to meet the Standard. My father even had a music studio in the house. I would watch my father’s band rehearse and listen to many of his music students’ lessons. I was always exposed to top musicians, as my family attended many concerts. I especially enjoyed meeting the musicians in the bands, since my Dad was their colleague.
