When taking on beginner students, I typically use a blend of method books and novice musical pieces to begin to build musicianship. With intermediate musicians, I tend to seek out anything of interet to the student while incorporating harder repertoire to strengthen musicianship and to continue to peek interest in music. My teaching style is fairly easy going. I don't force unrealistic expectations on students because everyone is learning music for a different reason. I like to figure out what their reason is and progress accordingly.   I also perform concerts and record with Combo Amazo, a band that plays original jazz, blues, bluegrass, and klezmer.  We were featured on the several NPR radio shows including E-town with Richie Havens.
