I have been playing saxophone for more than 20 years. I was awarded multiple scholarships at South Plains College to play in their Symphonic and Jazz Bands. I have many years of experience playing at in my church choir as well. As a result of which I have played professionally at numerous weddings and other similar events. Musical concepts are often-repeated, so what is learned once can be applied again and again, and I use this to establish and build upon a solid foundation so that we can make reasonable strides toward the student's goals. In high school I had the great privilege of being selected as the Principal clarinetist in the Minnesota All-State Band. We performed at the summer camp designed for these groups and recreated our performance at Orchestra Hall, home of the Minnesota Orchestra, the following spring. Clarinet is my primary instrument and first love. I also teach saxophone and beginning flute and hope to add other woodwinds in the future. My methods of teaching for students are if the student is starting with a school I would work with the book that the director wants them to work with. If they are coming to me for to learn I would use Essential Elements for Band and then move on to other music or books.
