I'm brand new to teaching guitar, so my methods are somewhat flexible with regards to student needs. I have experience both with written music and tabs, so student preference will determine which route to take. I've always found lessons to be more effective when instructors utilized the song method; to me, introducing elements of theory through this method makes the information "stickier."
