I began teaching privately in 1999 when i started music school at the university of alabama. I then moved to Miami in 2006where i taught through the school of music. My teaching experience dates back to my High School years, as I began teaching private lessons part time 10 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students throughout my life for the last 10 years. I encourage regular practice on a consistent schedule, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that getting my beginner students learning the songs they want to learn can go a long way in helping students enjoy the guitar and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. I'm very big on motivation. I tell my students from day one how great there doing and give them something to work towards. For example if I have a guitar student that really wants to be a lead guitarist I will play the solo of one of there favorite songs and teach them a small part of it or all of it if they are at an advanced level. They were interested primarily in acoustic guitar, I discovered how wonderful it made me feel to see their faces "light up" when they learned their first chord.
